Adams Point and Lake Merritt are neighborhoods near and around the lake. Close walking distance to restaurants, shopping, the farmers market, and many other amenities makes this area a popular one. Here there are a few older residential homes mixed with many large condo complexes and rental apartment buildings. It is possible to walk to the downtown Oakland BART stop near the Paramount Theatre from parts of these neighborhoods. With the addition of the new Whole Foods store on one end of the lake and the new Trader Joes store on the other corner the neighborhood should only get more appealing to home owners and renters alike.
